The Rashtriya Lok Dal's (RLD) founder and President Ajit Singh today appointed his son Jayant Chaudhary as the vice president of the party.
Chaudhary, who was the general secretary in the party until now, was today appointed as its national vice president. An order in this regard, signed by Singh, was issued today.
Jayant was an MP from Mathura in 2009, but lost the 2014 general election. He is an alumnus from the London School of Economics.
The Jats-dominated western UP is considered to be an RLD bastion, but the party could manage only a solitary win in Chhaprauli in Baghpat district in the last assembly elections even as it contested 284 of the 403 seats.
