JD(U) MLC accused of threatening junior engineer of murder

A junior engineer of the state Energy Department in the district today accused ruling JD(U) MLC Vinod Kumar Singh of pressurising him to do work beyond his scope of duty and threatening to kill him if he didn't do so.
The engineer, Pankaj Kumar Chaudhary, has submitted a complaint regarding the threat to his life at the Town police station in the district, and has left with his family after informing his senior officials.
In his complaint, Chaudhary has provided the mobile number from which Singh allegedly called him, showered abuses and threatened to barge in his house and kill him.

"The work, which Singh wanted me to do, was of private nature and was being done by a private electrical company. I tried to reason it out, but he abused me and threatened to kill me," Chaudhary has written in the complaint.
Providing details of the incident, District Public Relations Officer (DPRO) Jaishankar Prasad said the junior engineer has also provided a CD containing the recording of the conversation between him and the MLC.
A copy of the CD and the complaint have also been given to Madhubani District Magistrate (DM) G D Singh.

The DPRO said the DM has asked Madhubani Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajesh Kumar to probe the entire matter and has assured Energy Department officials of their safety. He also requested them to maintain the power supply.

Meanwhile, when contacted, Singh, who was set to file nomination for his second term, claimed the accusations were false and he was willing to submit to any probe in the matter.
"The entire matter is related to installation of a transformer and supply of electricity to a Dalit locality. The junior engineer was demanding money for it. I called him and was talking very politely to him, but he only abused me," claimed the MLC.
