JDP urges J'khand Guv to secure tribal rights

The Jharkhand Disom Party (JDP) today urged Jharkhand Governor Draupadi Murmu to implement the Constitutional provisions meant to protect the interest of the tribal community to check their large-scale displacement and migration.
In a letter to the Governor, the party's founder president Salkhan Murmu said the tribal community have high expectations from the first woman tribal Governor to protect the interests of the community by implementing the Constitutional provisions under 5th and 6th schedule of the Constitution.
Murmu said it was unfortunate that the state had nine tribal Chief Ministers in 14 years, but none had ever bothered to address the interest of the tribal community, who were subjected to displacement on the pretext of development and forcible migration in search of livelihood.

Salkhan Murmu, who had represented BJP twice from the Mayurbhanj constituency of Odisha, appealed the Governor that the concept of development should not only be focused on the mineral-rich state, but their identity, culture, language, their right over land, forest, water and other resources.
