Jeera prices fell by 0.89 per cent to Rs 16,630 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators booked profits at prevailing levels on lower domestic and exports demand at the spot market amid ample stocks position.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in March month fell by Rs 150 or 0.89 per cent to Rs 16,630 per quintal, with an open interest of 2,181 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in January moved down by Rs 145 or 0.80 per cent to Rs 17,930 per quintal in 3,198 lots.
Analysts said besides profit-booking by speculators at existing levels, fall in demand in the spot market against adequate stocks position, kept pressure on jeera prices at futures trade.
