Jeera futures gain 0.63% as demand picks up

Jeera prices rose by 0.63 per cent to Rs 19,145 per quintal in futures trading today as participants raised their bets, driven by uptick in domestic as well as exports demand in the spot market.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in August month moved up by Rs 120, or 0.63 per cent to Rs 19,145 per quintal with an open interest of 7,953 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in far-month September contracts traded higher by Rs 100, or 0.51 per cent to Rs 19,535 per quintal in 18,108 lots.
Analysts said widening of position by participants backed up by a pick up in domestic as well as exports demand, mainly led to rise in jeera prices at futures trade.
