Jeera prices went up by 1.76 per cent to Rs 14,725 per quintal in futures trade today as traders created fresh positions after upsurge in demand in the spot market as well as export enquiries.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in April rose by Rs 255, or 1.76 per cent, to Rs 14,725 per quintal, with an open interest of 4,083 lots.
Likewise, the spice for delivery in March traded higher by Rs 225, or 1.56 per cent, to Rs 14,660 per quintal in 7,257 lots.
Analysts said fresh positions built up by participants on the back of pick up in demand in the spot market and some export enquiries mainly led to the rise in jeera prices in futures trade.
