Ball's appointment, approved by the airline's board, is subject to various government and regulatory approvals including "security clearance", according to a regulatory filing.
An Australian national, 46-year-old Ball, who is also a certified accountant, has extensive experience in the aviation sector.
"He has previously held senior positions at Ansett Australia, Etihad Airways, Gulf Air, Kendell Airline and Qantas. He was also formerly the CEO of Air Seychelles," Jet Airways (India) said in the filing.
Gaurang Shetty, director and manager, would continue to lead Jet till Ball assumes charge.
