The driver, Kamlesh Kumar Kahar (30), was arrested under IPC sections 279 (rash driving) and 304A (causing death by negligence).
Saumik Chatterjee, the pilot, was on his way to the airport when the accident took place on a flyover on the Western Express Highway at about 5.45 AM, said Nandkumar Dhumal, senior inspector, Andheri police station.
According to police, the car, hired by the airline for its employees, had picked up Chatterjee from his residence in Mahakali Caves area in Andheri.
Chatterjee, who was on the back seat, suffered excessive bleeding, said Dhumal. Kahar escaped with minor injuries and was later arrested.
