Eighty-year-old M L Sehgal, who had retired from Delhi Police as an inspector around 20 years ago, was informed about the robbery by his wife at about 11 am yesterday.
His wife was informed by their maid Meena who had reached the house and found the inbuilt lock at the main door broken.
"Sehgal's wife is in Bangalore to meet their daughter while Sehgal was at the boutique run by his wife in Noida Sector-18. His niece Urvashi (who stays with the couple in the house) had left for some work in the morning," a police officer said.
A case has been registered in this connection and investigation has been taken up, police said.
