34-year-old Kumar was to undergo an operation but suddenly died on Saturday, a day after he furnished his details to avail the benefits of group insurance recently launched by the state government for journalists.
Soren observed one minute silence along with the journalists at the District Public Relation Office campus to condole the death of Kumar, who was working for the Deoghar-based Hindi daily.
Soren has announced Rupees one lakh compensation to the victim's family.
He said a FIR has been lodged in the concerned police station against the doctor for negligence that caused Kumar's life.
Prior to the condolence meeting, Soren has donated blood at a blood donation camp organized by the District Red Cross Society.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Soren, who has been encouraging blood donation and himself organized a blood donation camp for the government officials soon after he assumed the office of Chief Minister about a year ago, said the society should ensure that no one should die due to to dearth of blood in the state.
