Jharkhand govt appoints three new zonal IGPs

Jharkhand government today appointed three new zonal Inspector Generals of Police to strengthen law and order in the state.
M L Meena would be the new IPG (North Chhotanagpur - Hazaribagh and coal region of Bokaro), Naveen Kumar Singh will the IPG (South Chhotanagpur - Ranchi, Kolhan, Chaibasa and Daltenganj) and Suman Gupta IGP (all the district under Dumka region), said government spokesperson Nidhi Khare
"The government in a major administrative decision has decided to appoint three zonal IGPs, who have been entrusted with all the responsibilities of maintaining law and order in their regions and they will be empowered with all the administrative powers of transfer, posting and disciplinary actions," Khare, who is also the principal secretary of the department of Personnel, Administrative and Raj Bhasha, said in a press conference,

Khare said that it has been decided that the law and order and crime situation of all the comissionaries would be reviewed and supervised on a weekly basis at the headquarters at Ranchi, and no administrative slackness/lapse will be tolerated.
The principal secretary (Home), S K G Rahate, who was present along with DGP D K Pandey and ADG R K Malik in a joint press conference, clarified that by the appointment of the three new IGPs, in fact, the erstwhile zonal IGP system has been revived with a slight change.
The DGP said that by the end of 2017 Jharkhand will be free of extremism

Pandey said the state government has taken up several developmental works in the state, but there are some anti-developmental elements which are trying to create hurdles in the works and the government has decided, after a thorough review, to control all such forces so that development is not affected in any way.
The DGP also said that the incidents of crime are on the decline, but simultaneously government wants to establish more secured atmosphere for development in the state. And that is why there is a revamp in the administrative set up.
