Jharkhand Governor Droupadi Murmu and Chief Minister Raghubar Das on Wednesday paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th birth anniversary.
Both of them garlanded the statue of the Mahatma at Mohrabadi here.
They appealed to the people to realise the Mahatma's dreams of making a happy, self-sufficient and prosperous India.
Mahatma Gandhi had laid the foundation of non-violence through the principle of 'Satyagraha', giving independence to India, the chief minister said.
Addressing a gathering on the occasion Das said that the Father of the Nation dreamt of 'Swacch Bharat' (clean India) and the people fulfilled his dreams during the last five years.
"Both the Centre and the state government are continuously working on building a clean India," the chief minister said, adding, Jharkhand has become 100 per cent open defecation free.
Das also appealed to the people to spurn single-use plastic (disposal plastic) as Jharkhand has an important role to make the country free of single-use plastic.
