Jharkhand High Court today suspended Registrar (Vigilance) Mohammad Mushtaq Ahmed as his name cropped up in the FIR filed by rifle shooter Tara Shahdeo against her husband Ranjeet Singh Kohli.
In her FIR, Shahdeo accused her husband Ranjeet Singh Kohli, alias Rakilbul Hussain of deceit, exploitation and torture and was asked to keep secret, under duress, of his alleged leaning of Islam.
She also alleged her husband knew Mushtaq and other political leaders.
"The court has suspended Mohammad Mushtaq Ahmed, Registrar (Vigilance) as his name came up in the FIR. He has been served with a showcause asking for a reply within three weeks," Registrar General Anil Kumar Choudhary said.
Senior Superintendent of Police Prabhat Kumar said all evidences suggested that Kohli is a Hindu, but "may have (some) leaning towards Islam".
Terming it as a family problem, the SSP said Kohli has connections with some people in the judiciary.
