The ruling BJP today claimed Jharkhand was on a charted course of development inviting scorn from opposition who said the ruling party can't hide it's failure to introduce domicile policy.
"There was no will power or vision of the previous governments during the last 14 years. But now it is evident under the Raghubar Das government," ruling BJP MLA Radhakrishna Kishore said in the state assembly.
Speaking on the Motion of Thanks on Governor Droupadi Murmu's address to the Budget session, the senior leader said all indicators in the past had showed the state as backward.
Touching upon the 'Yozana Banao Abhian (YBA-campaign on preparing schemes in consultation with the people at all levels)' mentioned in the governor's speech, Kishore said the BJP government began the process of Budget four months ago through the campaign, which never happened in the state.
He termed as unprecedented the recruitment of 15,000 teachers in primary schools, 1717 teachers in middle schools this fiscal and proposal of recruiting 18,000 more teachers in the next six months.
Kishore also highlighted the government's initiatives in the road sector.
Countering Kishore's assertions, Jharkhand PCC President Sukhdeo Bhagat asked about the fate of previous schemes following YBA, particularly those under the MGNREGA.
He also claimed the state is second in the country in malnourishment.
Another Congress leader and former Speaker Alamgir Alam said if the Governor's speech claimed all announcements had been met then why domicile policy was not yet introduced even after the government had assured the House last year that it would bring a policy within three months.
Alam also wondered why the government had not introduced agriculture policy and appointment of one lakh people within six months even after announcements.
Senior JMM leader and former deputy chief minister Stephen Marandi said the government has not mentioned anything about the minority community.
Referring to the objectives that had led to the creation of Jharkhand, Marandi said the government gave some money and citation to 'andolankaris' (agitators) for their role in the statehood movement and demanded more benefits to them and their family members.
Supporting the government's achievements and a broad outline for the state's development, former minister and BJP MLA Bimla Pradhan said development works were visible in her Simdega constituency.
She expressed concern over dwindling population of tribals and asked whether family planning was the reason behind it.
