Jharkhand reels under heat wave

After experiencing blazing heat at 48 degrees Celsius yesterday, the mercury dropped by three degrees in the steel city of Bokaro to record 45 degrees Celsius, according to MeT office sources.

Garhwa also registered 45 degree Celsius while Palamau and Lohardaga recorded 44.8 and 44.5 degree Celsius respectively.

Coal city Dhanbad had another hot day at 43.6 degrees Celsius while Hazaribagh and Latehar endured 43 degrees Celsius and Jamshedpur and Giridih registered 42 degrees Celsius.

Even the minimum temperatures at Palamau (31.8 degrees) and Jamshedpur (30.3) were above normal, the sources said.

State capital Ranchi, once known as the summer capital of the erstwhile Bihar, experienced 39.7 degrees Celsius compared to yesterday's 41 degrees Celsius, they said.
