The premier health institute JIPMER here would set up a Rs 1,200 crore multi-organ transplant block, Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy said Thursday.
Speaking at a function here, he said Puducherry had been marching ahead in all sectors particularly inproviding health care services and in maintaining law and order.
The centrally-administered JIPMER (Jawaharlal Institute of Post-Graduate Medical Research) would expand its services and the multi-organ transplant block would be set up soon at a cost Rs 1,200 crores in Sedarapet village near here, he said.
The chief minister was speaking after felicitating Puducherry Director General of Police Sundari Nanda and other officials for the selection of Nettappakam Police station by the Centre as one ofthe best maintained in the country.
The station had been ranked fourth among the top ten best maintained stations in the country.
The honour proved that the union territory was making impressive progress in law and order sector, he said adding cash rewards would be presented to the concerned police officials on the coming Republic Day.
In a veiled attack on Lt Governor Kiran Bedi with whom he had been at loggerheads on various issues, Narayanasamy said the Puducherry government would make spectacular progress braving all obstacles and hindrances as we would not be cowed down by any forces, he said.
