The "encounter specialist" sub-inspector was arrested on June 4 for allegedly running a module of militants in Kishtwar district.
National executive member of BJP's youth wing, Sunil Sharma, said at a meeting at Kishtwar: "In order to resent the arrest of Shiv Krishan Sharma, the party has announced indicative protest on June 12 in the region."
He also warned of large-scale protest demonstrations if the state government did not stop "harassing the minority" in the region.
Sharma also appealed to the state government to sack state minister for home Sajjad Ahamed Kichloo, alleging he was "hell bent to disrupt the peace".
