Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today directed the administration to facilitate cross-Line of Control (LoC) trade with Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in a better way.
At a meeting here to review the cross-LoC trade, she asked the administration to encourage the genuine traders by regular and regulated monitoring and appraisal of the trading, an official spokesman said.
Her direction came days after deputations of traders from Trade Facilitation Centre (TFC), Salamabad and Chakkan-da-Bagh trading points met her and demanded regularisation of commerce, the spokesman said.
They had also sought steps to stop the practice of fake trading activities at the TFCs.
The meeting was also informed that steps are also being taken to streamline the facilities and arrangements at TFC Salamabad and Chakkan-da-Bagh to make the trading more transparent, facilitative and discourage any faking, the spokesman said.
He said the chief minister also directed creating a single-window clearance mechanism of all the concerned agencies at the entry points for checking of passengers so that they do not feel inconvenienced.
The cross-LoC trading points were started about 12 years back.
