A central team headed by Joint Secretary in Union Home ministry, M Gopal Reddy, today reviewed relief and rehabilitation measures in flood-hit Jammu and Kashmir at a meeting with state Chief Secretary M I Khadey.
"The team, sent by the Central government to review the situation on ground, held a meeting with Chief Secretary Mohammad Iqbal Khandey here," an official spokesman said.
He said a detailed presentation was made before the central team by the officials of the state government.
Sector wise assessment of losses and the steps taken by the state government to provide relief to the flood-hit people and status of restoration work carried out was given in the meeting, the spokesman said.
"Discussion was also held on the memorandum submitted to the Union government for financial aid to the tune of Rs 44,000 crore," he said.
The Chief Secretary thanked the team for their "considerate view" on the losses suffered by the state, saying the government and people of the state have hopes that the Centre will offer full assistance to the affected people.
Reddy said he will be submitting report to the Union government at the earliest.
The inter-ministerial central team had visited various flood-affected districts in both Kashmir and Jammu regions to assess the situation in the wake of September floods.
