Four EOCs will be established in Leh, Kargil, Srinagar and Jammu districts and Rs eight crore have been earmarked for this, minister of State for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Ajaz Ahmed Khan said in the Legislative Council.
Replying to a discussion, he said the centers will have 24 x 7 helplines manned by adequate staff and equipped with rescue and relief equipment.
The minister said Rs 18 crore have been sanctioned for purchasing equipment for the Jammu and Kashmir State Disaster Response Force and Fire and Emergency Services.
Khan said steps have already been initiated to cope with disaster-related challenges which included creation of trained battalions of Home Guards, civil defense and SDRF.
