JK Police one of the best forces in India: Omar

"You are entering into a force that has made his mark and is emerging as one of the best police forces in the country," he told them, stressing on serving the state and the country to the best of their capacity.

Addressing the Dy SPs at the passing-out parade at Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy here, the Chief Minister told them to be true to the commitment and oath they have taken on the culmination of training and on joining police service.

"There are so many challenges you have to come across during your service tenure," he said, asking them to render their service in accordance with the Constitution and law.

He said that J&K Police is currently passing through a period of transition from militancy to peace restoration and t has to deal with peculiar situation needing professional handling all the more.

The Chief Minister said transparency is the order of the day and his government has enacted various legislations including Public Service Guarantee Act (PSGA) and Right to Information Act to empower people.

Paying high tributes to police martyrs and praising jawans and officers who have rendered meritorious service during their tenure, Omar said that they have held the flag of the state and the country high and sacrificed their lives for the cause of the people.

Assuring full support to J&K Police in making it stronger and high professional police force in the country, the Chief Minister said that his government would take all measures in this direction.

Director General Police K Rajendra said inculcation of professional policing, best aptitude and attitude was an important factor of the training received by the Dy SPs.

The Chief Minister gave awards on the occasion. Dy SP Mohan Lal received the all round best award. Indoor best award went to Pranab Mahajan and outdoor best award to Mohammad Muzaffar Jan. Mir Murtaza Hussain received the best rider award.
