Preliminary probe into the JNU motorcycle mishap, in which three varsity students were killed, today indicated that they were racing against another bike when the incident took place.
Police suspect that all the five riders of the two bikes had consumed alcohol at a victim's room in Tapti hostel.
Police are trying to ascertain who all were there in the party so that they could be called for questioning.
Ravi Singh Chaudhary, Ravi Shankar Gupta and Santosh were killed after their bike skidded off the road and hit a roadside pavement in the wee hours yesterday.
Rahul Sharma and Shyam Singh were on the second bike and were called by the police for questioning today.
Police suspect that all the five had a party at Gupta's room at Tapti hostel where they consumed alcohol. A photograph of the party was also uploaded by Chaudhary on his Facebook profile.
Meanwhile, a close friend and batch-mate of the three students claimed that some newspapers had mistakenly published his photograph identifying him as one of the deceased.
The youth-- Rahul Sharma-- is also a student of MA Final (Korean language), in which the three were studying.
"I was told in the morning that my photograph has been published in some newspapers identifying me as Ravi Gupta. It was shocking for me," Sharma said.
He said that the gaffe has not just shocked him but also his family and friends. "Obviously, everybody was horrified to see this," he said.
Meanwhile, several condolence meetings were held in the university campus today. JNU Student Union also organised a meet to condole the deaths.
