JNU rape case: Victim's lawyer writes to police

The lawyer of a JNU student, a victim of alleged rape, has written a letter to the police asking them to "stop the selective leaking of information that compromises the identity and privacy of the complainant".
In a letter written to SHO, Vasant Kunj (North) police station, the lawyer has said that the leakage of information about her client including her age, her course and the details on how she came in contact with accused Anmol Ratan were "brazen violation of the law and constitute a penal offence under Section 228A of the Indian Penal Code".
The letter was also marked to the Delhi police commissioner, DCW chief Swati Maliwal and senior officials of JNU and Delhi Police/

The lawyer also said that the media was furnished false information about the case.
According to her, the victim had nowhere in her statement mentioned that she was offered a spiked drink or she was drugged but not only was this fact reported in the media, but the police didn't clarify on the matter.
She asked the police to issue a clarification on the matter and tell mediapersons that the girl wasn't offered a spiked drink.
