ABVP, which is locked in ideological battle with the left-backed groups on JNU campus, had last week approached the university administration demanding that the Central Library be renamed as BR Ambedkar library and a statue of the architect of Indian Constitution be installed there.
"We demand that the library be renamed after BR Ambedkar, convention centre after late President APJ Abdul Kalam and the stadium ground be named after freedom fighter Birsa Munda. We also want the statues of the three visionaries be installed at the respective places," JNUSU Joint Secretary Saurabh Sharma, who is the lone ABVP member in the student body said in the letter.
"This will be recognition of these personalities in the conscience of the nation," the letter further said.
