A sufi festival underway here has brought in a variety of sufi music genres from across the word and is turning out to a good crowdpuller.
In its second edition, the World Sufi Spirit Festival, which began on February 22 has roped in over 150 sufi artists from places like Egypt, Turkey, France, Mangolia, Pakistan, and Afghanistan to provide a peek into the mystical music tradition.
Artists from Rajasthan are also fusing their music with that of these sufi artists.
"The objective of this festival is to bring entire shades of sufi music at one place and provide the artists a platform to perform their music to the global sufi connoisseurs," says Karni Jasol, Director, Mehrangarh Fort.
While the first half of this festival is hosted by the Mehrangarh Fort, the second festival from February 25 to February 27 is set to be held at the Ahichhatra Garh Fort on Nagaur, a venue where the festival had originally conceived.
Rabbi Shergil, famous Sufi rock group Thagni and artists from Egypt, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan besides martial arts from Kerala were performed on first day of the festival.
Performances of Langa and Manganiyar artists and Rubab playing by the Afghani player Humayun Shekh also attracted a good crowd, says Jasol.
The second day witnessed performances of the bhajans of Kabir and Meera and creations of Amir Khusro by international fame artist Anuj Mishra.
