"Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker" star John Boyega has clarified that he was not speaking about co-star Kelly Marie Tran while talking about online bullying by the franchise fans.

The actor, in an interview with Variety, had said those who are not mentally strong believe in everything they read online.

Many thought Boyega's comments were directed at Tran, who quit after facing bullying on social media for being the first woman of colour to play the lead role in the franchise.

Boyega, who has faced his share of trolls for staring the in "Star War" movies, said he was talking about himself but maybe his reply was "badly worded".

"In no way was I referring to Kelly when I made my comments although the interviewer mentioned her given the topic. I was really speaking from my own perspective throughout this franchise. Sometimes I've felt strong and sometimes I've felt weak. Badly worded though. I apologize," he wrote.

In another tweet, the actor asked his followers to refer to his comments in 2018 to know how he had reacted to the social media harassment of Tran.

"If you don't like Star Wars or the characters, understand that there are decision makers and harassing the actors/actresses will do nothing. You're not entitled to politeness when your approach is rude. Even if you paid for a ticket!," he had said at that time.

Commenting on "Star Wars" massive fandom and how it can be a double-edged sword for actors, Boyega had told Variety that "you are weak to believe in every single thing that you read".
