Dipika was unfortunate to face Laura Massaro of England straightaway and the world number five carved out a comfortable 11-4, 11-5, 11-13,11-1 win.
Joshna on the other hand took on Australian Rachael Grinham, a former world number one but had come in as a qualifier. Like Dipika, Joshna lost a game but she was in control to work out a 11-6, 8-11, 11-6, 12-10 win to enter round two where she faces Raneem El Welily, the current world number three from Egypt.
