Chief Justice Amitava Roy administered the oath of office to Justice Patnaik, whose appointment was confirmed by the President on September 17.
With this appointment, the number of judges in Orissa High Court went up to 21, including the Chief Justice. The strength of judges in the State is still short of one from its sanctioned position of 22 judges.
Prior to his elevation to the bench of the HC, Justice Patnaik was serving as the Government Advocate (GA) at the Bhubaneswar bench of State Administrative Tribunal (SAT).
