Four convicts in the December 16 gang rape-cum-murder case -- Mukesh (26), Akshay Thakur (28), Pawan Gupta (19) and Vinay Sharma (20) -- were sentenced after the court said that the gravity of the offence cannot be tolerated and the case fell under the 'rarest of rare' category, warranting capital punishment.
The girl succumbed to her injuries on December 29, 2012 at a Singapore hospital while her friend, a software engineer, suffered fractures in his limbs.
