Lin is being lined up to direct at least the first two episodes of the season. He would succeed Cary Fukunaga, who directed all 8 episodes of the first season. It is not expected for Lin to direct the entire season, reported Deadline.
Lin is best known for directing four instalments of 'The Fast and the Furious' franchise. He has prior experience working in TV, having directed several episodes of 'Community' and also the pilot for upcoming CBS series, 'Scorpion'.
A cast is yet to be announced for second season of 'True Detective', though names such as Colin Farrell, Taylor Kitsch, Vince Vaughn and Elisabeth Moss have been rumoured.
The first season was lead by Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, who both received Emmy nominations.
