Singh was named in the FIR lodged at Bagmundi police station in connection with the gunning down of former President of BJP's Kurku block committee, Anil Gope by unidentified assailants on Friday morning.
Gope, a resident of Choura village under Tiruldih police station in Seraikela-Kharswan district bordering West Bengal, was shot dead when he went to a pond falling under the jurisdiction of Bagmundi police station.
BJP has indulged in character assassination and prevent him from taking part in the electoral process, Singh alleged while calling for an impartial probe by any agency.
Singh said he will be meeting the Superintendent of Police, Purulia later in the day today to demand for a probe into the killing of Gope.
In fact, JVM leader claimed, he was the person to make Gope the block president for the first time when he was in BJP and hardly ever met him after joining JVM.
