Kairana by-poll: 12 companies of paramilitary force deployed

A total of 12 companies of paramilitary force along with one thousand civil policemen will be deployed in Kairana assembly constituency for the assembly bypoll there which is scheduled for October 15.

Also, 16 check-posts have been established at the Haryana-Uttar Pradesh border for sealing it on the polling day for smooth and fair conduct of elections, said V K Mishra, Additional SP, Shamli.

Security has been tightened along the border since assembly polls in Haryana will be conducted on the same day, Mishra said.

Kairana constituency is divided in 42 sectors and a magistrate and a police officer has been posted in each of them.

Eight candidates including Anil Chouhan of the BJP, Nahid Hasan of the Samajwadi Party, and Arshad Hasan of the Congress are in the fray for the the Kairana assembly by-poll in which 28,82,130 voters including 1,26,194 women would exercise their franchise.
