Kalahandi welcomes government medical college hospital

The people of Kalahandi district including opposition Congress have welcomed Vedanta Group Chairman Anil Agarwal for helping the Odisha government in setting up a medical college and hospital in this backward and tribal dominated area.
Kalahandi Medical College Kriyanusthan Committee in a public meeting organized here at Gandhi Chowk of Bhawanipatna town, welcomed the move.
Convenor of the Committee Akhaya kumar Nanda said they have been agitating since 2010 for of a Government Medical College.
Congress leader and former Union Minister Bhakta Charan Das also in a press meet welcomed the decision of the state government to set up a Medical College in Kalahandi. Das thanked Vedanta's decision to invest Rs 100 crores for this proposed Medical College.
"We are not against Vedanta but only proposed mining at Niyamgiri Hills was the issue. We will support Vedanta if it will explore mine in any other deposit," Das said.
The Congress leader requested Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to monitor minimum provisions in health services, education, employment, communication, public distribution sector. The basic services should reach the villages of interior Nakrundi and Kerpai gram Panchayats of Thuamul Rampur block of Kalahandi on focus basis, Das said.
