"Today's rally is specifically for our ex-servicemen and veterans who are here and I think it's our responsibility to reach out to those people," said the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 16 Corps Lt Gen D S Hooda, who along with MLA Kalakote Thakur Rachpal Singh, inaugurated the event.
More than 800 veterans of Reasi and Rajouri districts were present on the occasion, along with GOC, (CIF-U) Major General H S Gill, Director Rajya Sainik Board Brig R S Langeh and officials from police and state administration.
Five gallantry award winners and old veterans, 26 widows, 33 non-pensioners, five orphan girls, two disabled veterans and two meritorious students were provided assistance on the occasion.
The event also featured a stage drama by Kalakote Jan Jagran Manch, apart from a dog show and a performance by the Army band.
