"Going by the reports in the media, I don't think that the problem (at Kalyani University) has been solved. What has happened is quite an unfortunate incident," Mishra told reporters here.
"And it is very unfortunate that the Education Minister (Partha Chatterjee) held a meeting with those who are involved in the incident... He knows there are two factions of his party. While one faction of the TMC wants to reign supreme at the university, the other one was assaulted," the CPI(M) Politburo member said.
"What we require is detailed reports and video replays from the media to identify those involved in the incident and punish them irrespective of their political identities," he said.
"Governor Tripathi, who is also the Chancellor of the University, should take steps to solve the situation," he added.
