Kangra declared opium, cannabis free district

A top Kangra district administration official today declared the district as opium and cannabis free.
Over 40 lakh cannabis and opium plants in 18 lakh sq mt area in the district have been uprooted and destroyed under the statewide cannabis eradication drive from August 22 to September 5, Deputy Commissioner, Kangra, Ritesh Chauhan said.
The campaign was carried out on all lands, including gram panchayat, forest, PWD, IPH, agriculture, horticulture, roadsides, he said.
