The local markets, government as well as private schools and colleges, which were closed after the clash, reopened today, with an exception of four affected areas -Chamanganj, Fazalganj, Nuabasta, Sishamau, DM Kaushalraj Sharma said.
No untoward incident was reported from the city, but section 144 still prevails, he said.
As a safety measure, the police and paramilitary forces were keeping a strict vigil in the four affected, the DM said.
The Bhannapurwa area, where two policemen who were on patrol were injured when a mob had opened fire at them on Saturday, is especially under strict police protection, the DM said.
Members of two communities had engaged in a scuffle after poster of a Goddess was found on the ground at Darshanpurwa under Fazalganj police station here.
As many as 2550 people, including women, were booked at various police stains in this connection.
