The traffic police in Pakistan's port city of Karachi has launched a campaign to remove music players from public transport after many complaints from women.
Media reports said the provincial Sindh government had ordered the campaign in the wake of threats from the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan to stop music being played in public transport.
However, Arif Hanif, Karachi's traffic chief, said the reports were baseless.
"There is no threat of this sort this campaign has been launched because there were numerous complaints from women that drivers played loud music in buses, mini buses and taxis," he said.
"The women complained that the songs played had obscene lyrics which made them uncomfortable," Hanif said.
