The observance was made on a solemn note as the Inspector General of Assam Rifles (North) Maj Gen M S Jaswal placed wreath.
At the function in Martyr Memorial at Pheza Village, some 18 km from the state capital, the rank and file of the paramilitary force, family members of late Kenguruse, leaders of BJP Nagaland Unit, village elders of Nerhema and neighbouring villages and school children turned up.
A two-minute silence was observed in remembrance of the martyrs and brave soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice for the Nation.
Besides the IG, the late soldier's father Neiselie Kenguruse and Bhatiya Janata Yuva Morcha laid wreaths at the memorial.
Marking the occasion, IGAR(N) Maj Gen M S Jaswal said "Late Capt Kenguruse not only made Nagas proud but the entire Country."
On the occasion, the IGAR(N) announced that in memory of the late soldier, the Assam Rifles would be organising an annual football tournament with the first edition to be held later part of the year.
