Karna Spkr issues notice on plea for disqualification on 8 JDS

Karnataka Assembly Speaker has issued a notice to two JDS MLAs to appear on July 23 in connection with their plea seeking disqualification of eight rebel party MLAs, who voted against the party in the recent Rajya Sabha elections.
As the quasi judicial commission of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly the Speaker has sent a notice to JD(S) MLAs B B Ningaiah from Mudigere and C N Balakrishna from Shravanabelagola to appear before it with their advocates, sources in the Speaker's office said.
They had filed a petition seeking disqualification of eight MLAs, on the basis of Karnataka Legislative Assembly (Disqualification of Members on Ground of Defection) Rules, 1986.

Zameer Ahmed Khan, Chaluvaraya Swamy, Iqbal Ansari, Balakrishna, Ramesh Bandisiddegowda, Gopalaiah, Bheema Nayak and Akhanda Srinivas Murthy, who voted against party's official candidate and supported Congress in the recent Rajya Sabha polls are the defendants in the case.
On June 12, JD(S) leadership while suspending the eight MLA's had issued a notice asking them why they should not be expelled from the party for defying the whip in the elections which saw the party candidate, businessman BM Farooq, secure 33 votes against the party strength of 40.
