The proposed entity - Karnataka Mining Environment Restoration Company Limited (KMERCL) - will formulate and implement projects under the Comprehensive Environment Plan for Mining Impact Zone (CEPMIZ), Law and Parliamentary Minister T B Jayachandra told reporters in a cabinet briefing here.
The Central Empowered Committee (CEC) of the Supreme Court had recommended the setting up a Special Purpose Vehicle or KMERCL - for mitigating adverse impact of mining around the mining leases in the districts of Bellary, Chitradurga and Tumkur as per CEPMIZ, the Minister said.
"The company will be headed by the Additional Chief Secretary and secretaries of mines, forests, finance and revenue, among others," he said.
