The state government will provide a grant of up to Rs 50 lakh to each of the IPs in the field of animation to promote creation of original content that will showcase world-class storytelling effects, a press release said.
To support the animation, visual effects and gaming industry, the Department of IT & BT, Government of Karnataka, plans to set up a Centre of Excellence in Animation in Bengaluru which would help build internal skill capacity, provide pre and post-production support and have incubation centres, the release said.
The grant to IPs in animation will be part of Idea2PoC (proof of concept) initiative launched by the Karnataka Startup Cell.
Idea2PoC is part of India's first multi-sector Startup Policy launched by the Karnataka government in November, 2015.
