The 49-year-old Kashyap has previously managed some of the top teams in Indian football like Air India, Mohun Bagan, Rangdajied United, Royal Wahingdoh, North East United FC and Salgaocar, a media release from Mumbai FC said today.
Announcing the appointment, Mumbai FC's Deputy VP Atul Badgamia said, "Santosh is one of the best managers in Indian football today. He has won and inspired players and he knows the I-League very well. I'd like to take this opportunity to welcome him to Mumbai FC."
Kashyap said, "To become the manager of Mumbai FC is organic growth for me. It is the club of a city that enjoys a hundred year old football legacy and also where I have played my football. It is a great honour that I have been offered the responsibility of managing the top football club of Mumbai, a city known and admired throughout India and the world."
Kashyap is known for his ability to nurture and develop young players and under him Royal Wahingdoh finished 3rd in the I-league 2014-15 season with a relatively young team.
Kashyap was in charge of the Salgaoncar FC team in the 2015-16 I-League.
