Perry visited school children and sat in few classes in a primary school rebuilt after it had been destroyed by a tropical cyclone, reported Telegraph online.
The singer also witnessed a range of programs in education, nutrition, health, child protection, sanitation and hygiene.
Perry participated in simple hand washing activities, jumping rope in the playground and pumping water at a well.
Speaking on the importance of education in one of the poorest countries in the world, she said, "An education is such an incredible opportunity here. Most kids don't get the opportunity to be educated.
"So I think it's an incredible, wonderful, miracle of an opportunity, to have a school here on top of this mountain - and I think that the fact that they walk for 45 minutes at 6 o'clock in the morning in 2013, is a testament to how appreciative they are about their education."
The visit was Perry's first in support of Unicef.
