West Bengal government today directed the task force on essential commodities to stay vigilant and take necessary measures to keep prices under control.
During a high-level meeting with the task force, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said it should ensure that there is no sharp rise in prices of essential food commodities over the next few months, Rabindranath Koley, a member of the task force said.
The government tried to focus more to check rise in prices of a few commodities including potato.
With the state Assembly elections getting closer, the Trinamool government is in no mood in taking chances to anger the common man and food prices is one of its focus areas.
