Delhi Congress chief Ajay Maken today staged a sit in at Mahatma Gandhi's memorial at Rajghat here in support of lawyers' demand to be exempted from the Goods and Services Tax (GST).
Maken's protest is also aimed at seeking rebate to lawyers for power connection in their chambers.
"We have started our fight to keep lawyers out of the GST's ambit and will take our protest across the country, if the Modi Government fails to meet the demand," he told reporters.
When the Congress was in power, it had allowed non- commercial connection rates for lawyers for their chambers in residential premises, Maken claimed, alleging that the AAP government is charging commercial rates from them.
A group of lawyers also joined Maken in his protest.
