Kerala Govt to take steps to strengthen Keltron

Kerala government will take steps to strengthen Keltron and to make it one of the efficient PSUs in the country, Industries Minister A C Moideen today said.
The Minister said this after a visit to Keltron's Karakulam Unit, to evaluate the manufacturing of UPS system developed by Keltron for Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL).
Keltron should improve its manufacturing base with future vision and be able to tackle the opportunities in national and international markets, he added.
The minister also held detailed discussions with Public sector Restructuring and Internal Audit Board (RIAB) Chairman M P Sukumaran Nair, Keltron Chairman, K G Vijayakumaran Nair and Managing Director T R Hemalatha among others.
Power Electronics Group of Keltron is executing orders worth Rs 10.5 Cr from M/s BGR Energy Systems Limited, Chennai for design, manufacture, testing, inspection, supply and commissioning of 3phase 2x500KVA UPS System (8 sets) - along with mandatory spares for NPCIL 4 X 700 Mw Mega Power Projects at Kakrapar, Gujarat and Rawatbhata, Rajasthan.
The system is designed with state of art technology employing Digital Signal Processor and Field Programmable Gate Array.
Each of the UPS is designed to continuously supply power to Nuclear Power Projects.
The system has been qualified after successfully subjected to the independent verification and validation by NPCIL, a KELTRON press release said.
