Kerry in Pak to hold strategic talks on security cooperation

US Secretary of State John Kerry today arrived in Pakistan to hold crucial strategic dialogue with the country's top civil and military leaders on bilateral security cooperation.
Kerry, who arrived at the Nur Khan air base in Rawalpindi from India on a two-day visit, will meet Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and will tomorrow lead the US delegation in the Pakistan-US strategic dialogue.
He will also meet National Security Advisor Sartaj Aziz and Army Chief General Raheel Sharif to discuss the security issues.
Kerry will also visit the Army Public School in Peshawar where Taliban suicide attackers killed 150 people, including 134 students, on December 16.

Under the strategic dialogue, there are several working groups on energy, counter-terrorism and trade and economic cooperation and the two sides will review progress achieved by the working groups.
The meetings on the regional security issues are being held after the drawdown of US and NATO forces from Afghanistan and increasing cooperation between Islamabad and Kabul.
Kerry, who is widely seen as pro-Pakistan, is also likely to discuss the tension between India and Pakistan on the border.
Pakistan is expected to give detailed briefing to Kerry about alleged ceasefire violations by India on the LoC.
