"In the first place, the fire alarm did not go off. We are analysing the entire situation. There will certainly be a probe in this regard," KGMU vice-chancellor Dr M L Bhatt told reporters here.
No patient was killed due to the fire, he said.
"The deaths reported last evening were due to different ailments. These deaths had no link with the blaze as around 200 patients were moved to different departments, the Shatabdi Hospital, the Artificial Limb Centre and the Balrampur Hospital," the V-C said.
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited the Trauma Centre and inspected the portion that was damaged in the fire.
He also interacted with the patients.
The chief minister instructed officials to ascertain if patients had died "owing to shifting or trauma caused by the incident".
He also declared that Rs 2 lakh will given as financial assistance if any such case came to the government's notice.
Adityanath also directed the Director General (Fire Safety) to review the fire safety status of important hospitals, and government and multi-storied buildings.
