Kharga Corps celebrates 45th Raising Day

The Kharga Corps of the Indian Army celebrated its 45th Raising Day today.
To commemorate the occasion, Corps Commander Lt Gen M M Naravane paid homage at a function in Ambala to the valiant soldiers who were martyred in the service to the nation.
The General Officer then inaugurated the newly-constructed Kharga Sainik Institute set up for Junior Commissioned Officers and Other Ranks and their families, a defence release said here.
The Corps was raised in 1971 in West Bengal. Subsequently it shifted to the western theatre of the country where it was initially headquartered in Chandimandir near here and later moved to Ambala, Haryana, in 1985, the release said.
